Pragmatic idealism and lifelong learning

The desire to contribute to the human development of his home continent has shaped his educational and professional path. He considers himself a lifelong learner and his desire for fairer, more transparent and participatory decision-making processes has led him to challenge the status quo throughout his academic and professional career.

I have been privileged to gain diverse experiences, including facing my own wrong decisions. I learned some life lessons the hard way and it is also these experiences that have made me the leader I am today.

After years of naive belief in the inherent goodness of people and blind trust in systems, he had to learn the hard way that most people, whether decision-makers or not, whether part of white European society or not, will stop at nothing to maintain and increase their position of power – in many cases not even financial. And they usually do so under the guise of benevolence. He had to learn to spot manipulation and not expose himself to danger for the sake of someone else’s dreams. Yet he has retained his faith in our shared humanity.

Rethinking the present. Redefining the future

Having experienced discrimination and exclusion, Dayog Kabore is a tireless advocate for the respect and participation of all those who are disadvantaged because of their origins and the colour of their skin. In all his projects, he applies a structural perspective and uses innovative approaches to drive change. His courage, vision and instinct for trends enable him to see the best way forward. His agility, tenacity and belief in our shared humanity inspire him to push forward even then faced with pushback.
